Chris Daniels Memorial Most Improved Player
The University of Dayton renamed their Most Improved Player Award following the 1995-96 season in honor of Daniels, who passed away during his senior season. Chosen by the coaches, it goes to the player who develops the most over the course of a season. Daniels more than tripled his points per game from his junior season in his senior season. Daniels also doubled his rebounding average and was shooting 69 percent when he passed away.
The Chris Daniels Award
The only award in any Atlantic 10 sport named in someone’s honor is the Chris Daniels Award, which is presented annually to the most improved men’s basketball player. Daniels played at Dayton and passed away on Feb. 8, 1996.
